DS-King, (DS-181), DS-КОРОЛЬ

Large raspberry / white veined 7-8cm (2.75’-3.25’) flowers have frilly edged thick petals.

This cultivar has strong, stocky peduncles.

This is one of our first cultivars with a neat rosette that consists of short thick-rounded leaves. Virtually all of these varieties are very salt sensitive. Therefore, for successful cultivation, typical Streptocarpus soil needs to be diluted with inert substances. The soil should consist of one part of peat moss and three parts of inert substance like perlite, shredded pine bark (0.5-1cm) or shredded sphagnum.

Since the leaves are broad it is better to allow only one rosette per plant.

A typical Streptocarpus rosette grows to the sides. DS-The King’s new leaves tend to develop higher. Therefore, with aging of old leaves the rosette’s neck become leafless. When transplanting, one can bury the plant up to the first leaf, while removing all the old leaves and small weaker rosettes.

The optimum pot size for a two-year-old plant is about 120 cm (4.75’) with a maximum size of 17 cm (6.75’).
