DS-LACY CLOUDLET, DS-238, DS-КРУЖЕВНОЕ ОБЛАЧКО ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is translation from the original Dimetris Russian speaking forum. Dimetris' founder and forum administrator - Pavel Enikeev, Ukraine. Hybrids with numbers and names: http://dimetris.com.ua/forum/forum_view ... tter=1&f=5 Hybrids with only numbers: http://dimetris.com.ua/forum/forum_view ... tter=2&f=5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We enjoy this hybrid a lot. It is very rewarding. However, it is slow grower. I recommend it for experience growers ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE NOTICE THAT BOTH GROWING AND PROPAGATION OF THIS HYBRID SHOULD BE IN DIFFERENT SOIL THAN MOST OF THE OTHER HYBRIDS. ADD EQUAL AMOUNT OF SPHAGNUM (NOT PEAT, BUT REGULAR) TO YOUR SOIL. SPHAGNUM CAN BE CRUSHED WITH YOUR HAND OR SCISSORS WHEN SPHAGNUM MOSS IS DRY. THIS HYBRID WILL ALSO THRIVE IN 100% SPHAGNUM. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- February 9, 2009 First presentation of this seedling. Pavel: "Very small rosette. Leaves are thick." Sometimes blooms with this kind of "ears" Mature plant Photos from forum From Natasha: Rosette is very small, but has a lots of flowers Pavel: "Flowers can have this form Usually on adult plant" Pavel: “DS-Lacy Cloudlet is a super compact variety, but very different from the ones with a narrow leaves. This one has the xerophytic and succulent genes of wild species that live in savannas. ( See glossary on our forum viewtopic.php?f=22&t=508&p=826#p826 ) This hybrid has rounded, thick, meaty leaves. You can water them much less often than other streps. The root system is similar to succulents, in that it does not die when plants stay dry for a few days. This hybrid grows slower than many other streps hybrids. I think that is because it may have succulent type of photosynthesis. (CAM photosynthesis). During the day, plant does not breathe and does not absorb carbon dioxide. Stomata (see glossary) are closed. This way plants do not evaporate water during the hottest period of the day. Plant start to breath at night. I did not experiment with temperature, but think that they may tolerate higher temperature than other streps hybrids. “ Olga/Francheska: “I find all statements true” First photos from forum: from Nataly: from tatyanovna: from Дмитрий Демченко March 02, 2015 Pavel: "Two young plants" |
